Malayalam Classes

The purpose of Greater Carolina Kerala Association is to promote and facilitate the cultural, educational, social and economic welfare of the Keralites both among Keralites and the surrounding community at large. Aligning with this mission, GCKA currently puts together Malayalam classes for reading/writing skills of our beloved language for our children. This activity is conducted via voluntary help from members of the community and is meant to cultivate and foster our cultural heritage among our children. We have been conducting these classes at various different locations like local libraries, Bond park community center etc. these past 2 years.

We are pleased to announce that the Malayalam classes are now being held regularly at the Lourdes Matha Syro-Malabar Catholic church. The church has graciously accepted our request to rent rooms inside the church building for conducting Malayalam classes for the children.

This venue is located at 1400 Vision Dr., Apex, NC 27523. The classes are held for an hour on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Saturday afternoons between 2:00pm to 3:00pm.

We have an attendance of around 30 children, most of whom can now read and write in Malayalam with a little help. We have 3 teachers who volunteer their time and talents for this great cause.

The class schedule for 2013 is available at http://gcka.com/live/resources/uploads/files/MalayalamClass2013tentativeSchedule.pdf

Registration for the classes is open to all children of GCKA members for a nominal annual fee of $25 per child. Members can register by emailing Sec@gcka.com and submitting a signed copy of the waiver form that can downloaded by clicking on this link.
